This fall, Hiei will be the first Yu Yu Hakusho character released as DLC for the 2019 Jump Force game. Jump Force is a crossover fighting game published by Bandai Namco Entertainment in celebration of 50 years of Shieisha’s weekly Shōnen Jump comics. Jump Force launched with a roster of 40 playable characters from 16 different manga series’ and received mixed reviews by players and critics alike. The launch roster consisted of characters from One Piece, My Hero Academia, Dragonball, Bleach, Naruto and Hunter x Hunter among others, but only two of the characters were from Yu Yu Hakusho.

Yusuke Urameshi was one of the 40 characters available at launch - Jump Force 2019

The launch roster for Jump Force contained two playable Yu Yu Hakusho characters. The Spirit Detective Yusuke Urameshi and the previous Dark Tournament victor turned demon, Younger Toguro.

It was announced on the official Bandai Namco US twitter account that Yu Yu Hakusho’s Hiei will join My Hero Academia’s Shoto Todoroki, Hunter x Hunter’s Meruem, an unannounced character from Bleach and an unannounced character from Jojo’s Bizarre adventure as part of the second Jump Force DLC season.

Hiei will be available to download Fall 2020 on the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC but Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait until early 2021 to get their hands on our favorite fire demon. Buyers of the character pass will receive all 5 upcoming characters and gain access to them 4 days earlier than the general release.
