Kazutaka Sakamoto, known best for producing Alice in Borderland, is working on the Yu Yu Hakusho live-action adaption for Netflix Japan which set to premiere on Netflix December 2023.
A picture of Takumi Kitamura was leaked online during the initial filming back in 2021. Takumi was clearly shown on set wearing Yusuke Urameshi’s iconic green school uniform. The actors hair, also styled to look like Yu Yu Hakuho’s protagonist, left little doubt to his role in the series. As of July 16, 2022, Netflix Japan has officially announced his role in the upcoming series.
Takumi Kitamura, 24, has been active in performing in Japanese TV and movies since 2008. Although he was born before the Yu Yu Hakusho manga was serialised, he is still 10 years older than Yusuke Urameshi when we are first introduced to him in the anime.
Can Takumi pull off the challenge? We think so. Takumi has taken increasingly more difficult roles over the last few years and has shown great skill and ability in his roles. He is most well known for his lead role as Takemichi Hanagaki in the hit series Tokyo Revengers.
